# Cala Macarella

Cala Macarella is in Ciutadella on Menorca’s south coast. The catalogue lists white sand, an approximate length of 120 metres and a walk of about 15 minutes from the nearest parking area or bus stop.

Perhaps Menorca’s most famous cove: a wide arc of white sand under pine-covered cliffs, with very clear water. Busy in summer, magical early in the morning.

## Getting there

Closed to private cars in summer since 2018: take the L69 shuttle from Ciutadella (there is a car park for bus users near the Ciutadella bus station). Out of season the car park is open; from it the walk is about 15 minutes. Walking in from Cala Galdana takes about an hour.

## Where to eat nearby

- Susy’s bar: Family-run since the 1960s in the shade of the pines: grilled meat and fish, salad and chips. Busy at lunchtime, so go early

Restaurants and opening hours change by season; check before you go.

## Good to know

- Toilets and lifeguard in season.
- Combine it with Macarelleta, 10–20 minutes away on the cliff path.

- Cala Macarelleta.
- Cala en Turqueta to the west and Cala Galdana to the east on the Camí de Cavalls.
